Rectangular Addition to Triangular A-frame House

This geometric house designed by Netherlands architects dmvA proves that it’s hip to be square – and in this case, triangular too. The first thing you see on approach is the striking A-frame structure that invites you in. On further exploration, you discover a rectangular volume just behind, and a wonderful square deck out front that incorporates the outdoors into the living space.

The award-winning architecture firm was tasked with designing an addition to modernize and extend the previously built vacation house and transform it into a contemporary style residence, while still respecting the existing structure and the environment surrounding it. Exposed interior frames help to highlight the main living area while also defining secondary spaces, like the dining nook.
