Porcelain Stoneware Tiles by Villeroy and Boch – Century Unlimited

With their new porcelain stoneware tiles, have introduced endless individual design possibilities. The collection, Century Unlimited, is divided into three series and three tones around the basic tile colors. The cream, beige and brown tiles form one group, the greys and indigo another and the third is the most colorful group. There are a total of nine designs in each of the three series, for 27 tiles to choose from. It’s a very popular design style today – and one that has stood the test of time. In the mid-1800s, Villery and Boch paid special attention to a historical discovery near the town of Mettlach – a mosaic Roman floor. They were so impressed, they decided to make floors just like it, and their tiles became known worldwide as “Mettlach Tiles”. The floor of Cologne Cathedral, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and Maria Einsiedeln pilgrimage church are just a few examples of where Mettlach tiles were used (and are still as stunning as ever). And now, these tiles can be used in your home. The designs have been updated to reflect modern taste and color, and the tiles can be combined into distinctive patterns or laid as a random patchwork. Villeroy and Boch have succeeded in placing these historical tiles into a modern context. And everything old is new again.
