Australian firm took on a project to turn a Melbourne penthouse apartment for an older couple into a sophisticated living space, where they can accommodate and entertain grandkids.
The idea was to introduce a refined LA Glamour aesthetic to evoke Old Hollywood atmosphere in each room. Dressing the entire space in white gave the designers plenty of canvas to create upon.
Taking advantage of the neutral color scheme they added splashes of color to both living and dining areas with artworks. The kitchen got a style treatment of a grey stone backsplash and black leather seat stools. An adjoining breakfast area added a touch of blush with pink chairs. And for the bedroom, they decided to go with graphic prints.
Naturally, there are a lot of windows in the penthouse, so the white was most fitting for the place. It nicely brings all the different zones of the open layout together, and enhances smaller rooms, at least visually.
Both bathrooms were given a little more fine jewelry treatment. Everything from the Art Deco pocket door to an unusual stone sink and backsplash makes for a gorgeous Hollywood hotel look the designers strived for.
