The innovative architecture of this house uses HVAC ductwork as a décor element. That’s innovative, no question. Normally more suited to an urban loft, it works well in this slope home. Designed by , the home is in Asheville, NC. A lot of openness between rooms and high ceilings create the feeling of space you need to display HVAC as décor. Painting it orange was brilliant – it gets our attention, yet doesn’t overwhelm, while still providing a slightly industrial touch. And the natural light is very important to the whole spacious feeling. The house was built using sustainable features such as a geothermal heat pump, hydronic in-floor heating, highly insulated exterior walls and roof, Solarban glazing, and fluorescent lighting. A very environmentally responsible modern house, with a few eccentric touches. Like orange HVVAC ductwork.
